There are 10 flat stages, 7 mountain stages, 1 medium mountain stage, 2 individual time trials and 1 team time trial.<br /><br />Alberto Contador of Astana, pictured, started the 2009 Tour de France as the favorite and after stage 6 of the Tour de France he is currently in third position.
